The Tate Band Boosters meet the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm in the Band Hall.
Our official communications method is email through CHARMS. It's important that we have a current email address and phone number on file. You will also receive a WEEKLY Reminder each Saturday or Sunday for the upcoming week. There is always a lot information provided. We also utilize the REMIND App to send out quick information. This is especially helpful when the band is traveling and we send out our ETA.
All students will receive a BAND HANDBOOK. Everything you need to know about attendance, grading scale, conduct, expectations, uniforms, equipment, appearance, forms, and financial expectations are in the handbook. Both students and parents are required to read and sign an acknowledgement letter to be returned to the directors.
There will not be any band camps during the month of June. This is the time to plan family vacations and routine appointments.
Rookie Camp is for all students. Bring with you all completed forms if you haven't already done so. Medical forms need to be notarized. We cannot administer medication without this form. All camps will be in the month of JULY! Summer camps are HOT! Please wear appropriate clothing and tennis shoes. No open toe shoes allowed. Wear hats and sunscreen! Bring a water thermos and label it! You may use the camel baks, too! Do not consume dairy or citrus drinks before camp. Please eat a well-balanced breakfast or lunch before arrival. Students are not allowed to leave campus during camps. We offer meal deals during band camp for a nominal fee from local restaurants. Students may bring a dinner or someone may drop off dinner during our regular dinner break. Refer to your band calendar for all camps, practices, concerts, competitions and events. The calendar is updated periodically and included in the newsletters.
The Tate Band Boosters operates the concessions stands during the marching season. Concessions is our biggest fundraiser. We ask each parent to work a minimum of two shifts in the concession stand. There are several jobs available including grilling hamburgers, cooking the famous "Aggie Fries", wrapping food, serving at the windows, or working either the Main, Midway or Visitors concession stands.
We also host several big events at Tate. This includes Marching MPA, WGI, Showcase and Championships. These events are all hands on deck! They are BIG EVENTS! Tate has hosted some of these events for many years. Students earn community service hours when they sign up to work these events. They actually have fun doing so.
We will provide all the details for your financial responsibility at the June 12th Booster Meeting. We also have several fundraising opportunities throughout the year to earn money for your student's account. There are several parents that have earned more than double the dues for their student's account from fundraising alone.
We also have a few fundraisers that benefit the band. It is necessary to have these to help pay our financial obligations. Students are required to work the annual Showband of the South car wash. The car wash is held at several locations on a Saturday.
Other fundraisers include: calendar sales, Spirit Nights, citrus sales, Kona Ice cards, gift wrap, Pensacola Interstate Fair, Cordova Crawfish Festival, Pensacola Bay Center, and our on-line fundraiser. So, there are lots of opportunities to raise money for both Tate Band and your individual band accounts.
